We accept cash, checks, and credit cards as well as interest-free financing through CareCredit. Why doesn't insurance cover all the costs of my dental treatment?

Dental insurance is usually a benefit provided by an employer to help their employees pay for routine dental treatment. Most plans are only designed to cover a portion of your cost and are dependent on what an employer provides for you and your family.

What should I do if I have bad breath?

There are various reasons for bad breath, but in healthy people, the major reason is due to bacteria on the tongue. Some studies have shown that simply brushing the tongue reduces bad breath by 70%. Also, lack of daily flossing can lead to bad breath. Some other causes of bad breath include:

Certain foods
Poor oral hygiene habits
Periodontal (gum) disease
Tobacco products
Certain medical conditions and illnesses
Dry mouth (Xerosomia)
Dental cavities
Sinus problems

Using a tongue scraper also helps to eliminate bacteria, helping to improve bad breath.

Are carbonated drinks harmful to my teeth?

Regular soft drinks contain acid and sugar that can lead to tooth decay. Diet or sugar-free drinks may not have sugar, but most contain acid. Even many flavored waters have a lot of extra sugar. As of 2015, the recommended amount of daily sugar intake for an adult is 25 grams per day. Children should have much less than the recommended amount for adults, and both adults and children should strive to consume only natural sugars, such as those in fruits. When in doubt, always check the label!

What are veneers and can they improve my smile?

A veneer is a thin piece of porcelain that covers the front surface of a tooth. A veneer is used to restore discolored, damaged, misshapen or even slightly crooked teeth. Veneers are custom-made from impressions or molds that are sent to a dental lab for completion. The veneers are fitted and bonded to each tooth. They can improve your teeth and give you a beautiful, new smile.

Why do I get cavities?

When the hard, outer layer of the tooth (enamel) breaks down, cavities can form. Poor oral hygiene practices coupled with an unhealthy diet can all lead to this decay. Bacteria or plaque forms on your teeth every day. It produces acid as it feeds on sugary particles in the mouth. Over time, that acid can erode enamel, leading to decay. To maintain a healthy, cavity-free smile, brush twice a day with fluoridated toothpaste, floss daily, and visit us twice a year!
